Pie for breakfast? Absolutely!

A sunny Saturday morning and the promise of all the pie you could eat for $5 per person proved to be the perfect recipe to attract a big crowd of happy families on Saturday. People from all over the Shelburne-Hinesburg-Charlotte area came to Shelburne Vineyard for the first annual Charlotte Shelburne Hinesburg Rotary Pie for Breakfast event. Pies of every type, from quiches and meat pies to coconut cream and ever-popular apple pie, from the kitchens of Rotarians and donated by many local bakeries, were served until the last crumb was gone. Everyone agreed that this should become an annual or even seasonal event. It was a chance to enjoy delicious food, catch up on neighborly news with old friends, and contribute to the Rotary College Scholarship Fund. Plus, it was a great way to get in the St. Patrick’s Day Eve spirit with music by Patti Casey and Tom MacKenzie, and delightful Irish dancing of local youngsters and their talented teacher.
