For the 47th and final time, the students on Shelburne Community School’s Alpha team will be raffling their annual quilt in support of an end of year camping trip.
This year’s quilt is titled “Twice as Nice.” Connecting to curriculum about sustainability, waste and the need to conserve materials, the quilt is partially crafted from leftover material from previous years.
Alpha paraeducator and quilter extraordinaire, Tamara Magoon, describes the quilt as having cool tones and appearing “rather like a candy wrapper.”
An eighth-grader on the quilt committee explained what the quilt means to her.
“I enjoy working collaboratively with my friends and helping the fundraising for the camping trip,” she said.
Magoon added, “Helping make our annual quilt is one of my favorite traditions on Alpha! It is refreshing to see a group of students with different skill levels to collaborate and come together during this project.”
Raffle tickets are $1 each and a book of six tickets is $5. Contact any Alpha student to purchase.
