The Vermont Natural Resources Council presented the Arthur Gibb Award for Individual Leadership to former governor of Vermont Madeleine Kunin Sept. 12 at Shelburne Farms. During her tenure as governor (1985-1991), Kunin established the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board, founded the Commission on Vermont’s Future and mentored countless environmental leaders. “We can thank Gov. Kunin for much of what we enjoy in Vermont today,” said Brian Shupe, executive director. From left, board member Kesha Ram, Gov. Kunin and urban planning consultant Beth Humstone.
