From its inception in 1979, The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has been dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness.

 

"For Once in my Life" Film challenges preconceived notions of what it means to be disabled

The film, "For Once in my Life," showing on Jan. 11, tells the story of 28 musicians and singers who all have severe mental and physical disabilities. Their band, the Spirit of Goodwill Band offers members a home away from home where the musicians are free to display their talent, humor, and tenacity.

 

"All about Alzheimer's" family education program offered

If someone in your family has Alzheimer's disease, you know that life has changed and that you are faced with new challenges every day. Caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease can be tough and frustrating, but realizing you are not alone and that there are ways to make the job easier can reduce some of the stress.
