Defensive end Matt Long is the first CVU player in history to be named to the annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl roster. The three-year starter says, "It's an honor to be named to the team," adding, "It feels pretty cool."

"I nominated him for the Shrine team," CVU football coach Jim Provost bragged. "He is the most deserving player." The head coach, Charlie Burnett from Essex, and his staff selected the team.

The 57th Annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl will be played Aug. 7 at Windsor High School.

Long was also named to the Eighth Annual Vermont North-South Senior Bowl along with Dan Thaubault of Shelburne.
