Mission accomplished
Last Sunday, March 14 the CVU alpine ski team, most dressed in crazy costumes, along with other high school skiers, completed the one million vertical feet ski challenge which raised over $11,000 for lights at Cochran's Ski Area. Even the overcast skies and raindrops could not dampen these athletes spirits. "The kids were great," according to CVU alpine coach Mike Minnerly, "They had lots of energy." In a little over three hours, with some skiers making 60-70 runs, the fundraising mission of the day was accomplished. Kudos to Christian Goulette of Williston who raised $2,600 and also to Adam Kaufman of Shelburne who won new racing skis for his fundraising efforts.
Even with this favorable outcome there's more fundraising to be done. An additional $19,000 will be needed to reach the ultimate goal: lights at Cochran's.
