Wind Ridge Publishing grant makes Omega Yoga Teen Camp scholarships available

Wed, Mar 31st 2010 02:00 pm

CVU students are invited to apply for partial or full scholarships to take part in a special yoga and mindfulness camp for teens to be held at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck N.Y. from August 15-21. Through the Talk about Wellness initiative, five students from three area high schools (CVU, South Burlington, and Burlington High School), will have the opportunity to learn yoga and mindfulness techniques and will have time to relax, swim, dance, and learn Thai massage.

Fifteen students from Vermont will be transported and accompanied by two adults, one of whom is Teal Scott. Scott is professionally trained in meditation and mindfulness techniques and is known locally for his work with teens in Burlington. He will chaperone and help to staff the program at Omega.

The Omega Institute is situated on 450 acres of green rolling hills and lush wooded terrain. The camp boasts an Olympic size pool, a 50-foot climbing wall, high ropes course, sports field, hiking trails and cedar log cabins.

As a result of Wind Ridge Publishing's grant, the cost of this camp, which includes meals, housing, program, and transportation, will be capped at $325.

Students from CVU wishing to apply can contact Sue Wood at CVU. For general information, call Marilyn Neagley at 985-3528 or email marilynneagley@gmail.com
