Henry J. Gebo - Panton
Henry Joseph Gebo, 64, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010, with his devoted and loving wife at his side. Henry was born on July 3, 1945, in Ferrisburg, the son of Alfred and Yvonne (Theoret) Gebo. Henry’s survivors include his devoted wife of 41 years, Patricia; daughter, Cheryl and her husband Joel Yazbek of Panton; son, Joseph and his wife Terri of South Burlington; and grandchildren. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1963, and served in the Vietnam War. Henry began his meat cutting career at The Shelburne Supermarket in 1972. He also worked for several local stores, and operated his own butcher shop with his wife, Patti, for several years. Henry and his brother, Albert, owned and operated Gebo Brothers Custom Cutting for many years. In 1999, Henry returned to The Shelburne Supermarket saying, "I started my career here and I’m going to end it here too." Henry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Henry was an avid gardener, planting thousands of squash plants each spring. He also was very proud of the beef jerky recipe he created and the delicious beef jerky he shared with many. The Gebo family would like to thank the numerous family and friends who helped care for Henry during this difficult time. A very special thank you to Steven and Sara Clayton for their thoughtfulness and generosity. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at Vergennes Congregational Church followed by a reception at the church. There will be no calling hours.
