David P. Trueman

David P. Trueman - Shelburne

On May 5, 2010, David P. Trueman peacefully ended his three and a half year journey with melanoma. His wife and children were there to walk him home. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on Aug. 29, 1942, the son of George and Florence (Hogan) Trueman. On Nov. 19, 1966, David married Vicki Rector in Lansdowne, Pa. He worked for the Hobart Corporation for 46 years. In 1976, three years after moving to Vermont, he and his business partner, Norm Potter, bought the Hobart franchise for Vermont and Northern New York. They both retired on March 1, 2010, closing the franchise after 34 years. David is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vicki, who has been a part of his life since high school; two children, David J. Trueman and his wife, Emily, of Sandston, Va., and Heather Tenda and her husband, James, of Williston; five grandchildren who adored their Pepa, Jacob, Caroline, and Adam Trueman, and Jack and Owen Tenda; by his pal, Kringle; brothers, Daniel Trueman and his wife, Joan, of Havertown, Pa., and his twin, George Trueman and his wife, Claudia, of Louisville, Ky.; and nieces and nephews. Dave was proud to be a charter member of the Essex Town Fire Department and a life member of the Ferrisburg Fire Dept. He also volunteered for Charlotte Rescue. He belonged to the Ethan Allen Masonic Lodge and the Vergennes and Shelburne Lions Clubs.
