2010 Youth Sailing Camps
Boats and Balls
The Lake Champlain Sailing Center (LCSC) announces two new partnership camps for summer: tennis and sailing, and soccer and sailing. If you enjoy all types of sports but haven't had the chance to try soccer, sailing, or tennis, then these camps are right up your alley. There's nothing better than a fun-filled day of outside recreation in the great state of Vermont.
Soccer and Sailing Camp
In partnership with Far Post Soccer Club, this weeklong camp combines two fun outdoor sports: soccer and sailing. Campers will spend the morning at the waterfront learning the basics of sailing on beautiful Lake Champlain; in the afternoons, they will learn basic soccer skills such as individual ball control and will engage in fun soccer-related games. The camp is for ages 10-14 and session one is from July 26-July 30, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tennis and Sailing Camp
In partnership with the Burlington Tennis Club, this weeklong camp will help campers learn the basics of two other fun sports: tennis and sailing. Half the day will be spent learning tennis, including skill development drills and game-based play with a systematic progression of court size, balls, and racquets to modify age-appropriate play. The other half of the day will be spent learning the fundamental skills of sailing small boats on Lake Champlain. Camp is open to ages 8-10 and 11-14, session one is from Aug. 16-20, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Spaces are still available in full day, weeklong sailing camps. It's a great way to be introduced to joys of sailing, meet new friends, expand skills, and have a blast on the lake.
Sailing camps are offered for 6-15 year olds.
If financial obligations preclude your family's ability to participate in any of the programs, please contact Kate Neubauer, executive director for information about the McConnell Scholarship Fund.
