With a score of seventy four, The Shelburne Geo-bee team came in second in the Vermont Regional Geo-Bee competition. The competition took place at the Charlotte Central School, on Saturday, May 8.The three teams competing, Charlotte, Shelburne and Christ the King were fighting for a spot in the States competition. The competition consisted of twelve rounds, each competitor receiving an average of fifteen questions. The questions consisted of multiple choice, true or false, place name geography, and other geography related questions. To participate in a geography competition, you need to have a basic knowledge of place name, country capitals, cultural and physical features, and current worldwide events. For each correct answer, the team would receive two points. For a bonus question, which is normally more difficult, the team would receive four points. Charlotte came to victory with a score of eighty-four, beating Shelburne by five questions.

Noah Gamble, Will Keve, Nik Baya, Arjun Bose, and we, Sophie Johnson and Erica Issenberg, were members of the Shelburne Team, led by coaches David Southworth and Dick Carlson. Each competitor gave the best answer for each question, thinking logically and using common sense. To gain the basic knowledge a student needs to compete in the competition, much studying is required.
