The Lodge at Shelburne Bay Senior Living marks 10 year anniversary with celebration
Thursday, June 10, 6 p.m.
Shelburne Bay Senior Living opened its doors late in 1999, with 65 independent living apartments as a cutting-edge hospitality model senior living community. The goal of the facility was to offer residents a resort-like atmosphere and customer service as well as health services.
According to managing partner Gregg Beldock, "Every day I wake up and I am proud of what we accomplish with my staff and residents, I think we have created a better quality of living for all of us." Beldock has also seen a growing need for assisted living and higher levels of care, which is why in the summer of 2004 The Lodge at Shelburne Bay added both an assisted living wing, along with The Haven Memory Care Program. Shelburne Bay now comprises 72 independent living apartments, 40 residential care, and 15 memory care. In May 2008, Shelburne Bay's sister community, The Lodge at Otter Creek, opened in Middlebury, and the two entities joined to become "The Lodge" communities.
Party planned
The event on June 10 will be held on the lawn behind The Lodge at Shelburne Bay. Beldock hopes Shelburne residents will attend the celebration, which includes the classic Dixieland jazz of the Dixie Six Band. There will be free ice cream, and all are invited to pack a picnic dinner to enjoy on the grounds. The event will be held under a tent if necessary due to rain.
