The Vermont Commons School in South Burlington held its 13th graduation ceremony on Friday, June 11 at the UVM Horticultural Research Center, adjacent to the school's campus.

At the graduation ceremony, senior Eric Fournier, son of Emil and Diane Fournier, of Shelburne, was the recipient of the George and Pammela Starbuck Award for his contributions to the life of Vermont Commons School. Eric's sense of community, warm personality, commitment, enthusiasm, and spirit of generosity made him the unanimous choice of the faculty for this highly prestigious honor. Eric will be attending Bishop's University in Sherbrooke, Quebec in the fall to pursue a degree in business administration.

Alexis Jackson, member of the VCS Class of 2012, and daughter of Jeff Jackson of Shelburne and Carol Blattspieler of South Burlington was recognized for her outstanding contributions in two academic areas: mathematics and world languages. The faculty honored Alexis as a student who is simply a joy to teach and as a student who raises the enthusiasm and level of learning in her class.
