Locals shine at senior championships
Shelburne residents were out in force at the recent 2010 Vermont Senior Track and Field Championships held at Burlington High School. Flo Meiler placed first in all eight track and field events and won her age division in the shot put, discus, javelin, high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, and hammer throw. She also took first place in the 200m and second place in the 100m. Janet Nunziata placed second in both the 800m and 1,500m while her husband, Bruce Nunziata, finished second in the 100m and 200m. Don Kjelleren took first place in the high jump and long jump and finished second in the discus and javelin.
Ten women and 37 men between the ages of 51 and 94 competed in the Vermont state qualifier for the 2011 National Senior Games scheduled for June 16-30 in Houston, Tex.
