Rayshunn Trevathan, 22, of Bridgeport and Bryan Jarquin, 21, of West Haven pleaded not guilty in Vermont District Court in Burlington Tuesday morning to charges stemming from incidents that occurred in Burlington and Shelburne early Friday morning, July 16.

According to a press release sent jointly by the Burlington and Shelburne Police Departments on July 16, Burlington Police were flagged down by a person reporting that they were assaulted and robbed at gunpoint by two men in a parking lot near the corner of Main and St. Paul Streets in Burlington. It was reported that during the robbery multiple gunshots were discharged. A short time after that incident the Shelburne Police Department received a report that a taxicab had been robbed at gunpoint in Shelburne.

Investigation and a police canine track led Shelburne officers to a house at 388 Penny Lane in Shelburne where two suspects were located matching the description provided by the victims. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident. According to Police Chief Jim Warden, "the search of the Penny Lane residence produced evidence of the armed robbery in our town to support our case."

At Tuesday's arraignment, both Trevathan and Jarquin pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault and robbery with injury resulting, and assault and robbery with weapon. Bail was set at $50,000 for each defendant.
