Shelburne Food Shelf is low

Wed, Jul 21st 2010 02:00 pm
The Shelburne Food Shelf is currently low on materials for its August drop offs. Coordinator Val Martel said that it has been a rough summer for folks and the demand for donations is on the rise. "The need has been profound," said Martel, who has been coordinating the local food shelf for several years. Helpful materials are canned meats such as tuna and chicken, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, canned fruits, vegetables, soups, and hamburger, tuna, or chicken helper. Martel is also looking to build up funds for fuel and power bill assistance. Send your check made out to the Shelburne Food Shelf to Colleen Haag at the Town clerk's office.
Martel noted that the Shelburne community has always stepped up to meet the needs of the food shelf and been extremely generous to the organization. "Thank you, Shelburne, for always coming through," said Martel. Canned goods can be given directly at the food shelf in the Town offices on the ground floor, or in the marked box near the exit at the Shelburne Supermarket, or you can call Martel at 985-8436 to arrange an appointment to donate.
