Four of the 321 Vermont high school students honored for completing studies at the Governor's Institutes of Vermont this summer are from Shelburne, and represent Champlain Valley Union High School (CVU) and Lake Champlain Waldorf High School (LCWHS).

Alexander Baad, Caroline Limanek, and Azulena Royer from CVU and Sebastian Lissarrague from LCWHS each completed the Governor's Institute program.

The institute offers advanced level classes taught by experts to selected students from throughout Vermont. All four Shelburne students were based at the University of Vermont (UVM) and the participants lived on campus while participating in their respective programs. Baad studied science and technology, Lissarrague completed the engineering program, and Limanek and Royer completed the mathematics program. The students were referred to the institute by their schools based on their academic achievement, potential, and desire to learn more about related careers and skills in their area of interest.

In addition to the programs completed by the Shelburne students, the institute offers courses in arts, Asian cultures, information technology, current issues and youth activism.
