Green Mountain Draft Horse Field Day
Saturday, July 31 at Shelburne Farms
Wed, Jul 28th 2010 12:30 pm
There are always lots of jobs for draft horses to do at Shelburne Farms. On Monday, Cathy Wells' team, Pete and Jaguar, helped to move a wagon full of campers' tents and backpacks to the Beyond the Barn campsite. On Saturday, July 31 from 11a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be dozens of gentle giant draft horses like Pete and Jaguar taking part in Green Mountain Draft Horse Field Day in the field near the Welcome Center. Witness the horsepower that did the heavy pulling on Vermont farms in the past and join in the renewed interest in horsepower today. It's a chance to see and pet the horses, talk to the farmers, and take a hayride. Food for purchase will be available. The field day is free with admission to Shelburne Farms: $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $5 for children three to 17. Free for members of Shelburne Farms. Admission includes access to the eight miles of walking trails, the Children's Farmyard, and the Hub where you can watch cheese being made.
