Vegetables available from Grow an Extra Row project
The second Grow an Extra Row drop-off and pick-up date is Tuesday, Aug. 3 at Shelburne Community School (SCS). Community members may drop off their extra vegetables from 1:30-3 p.m. and those who are interested in picking up vegetables may do so from 3-5 p.m. This is the second of three drop-off and pick-up dates for Grow an Extra Row this summer.
This is a great way for community members with extra vegetables to make a donation and for those in the community who would like vegetables to come and pick them up. Grow an Extra Row is in its second season. The exchange began last year when Randy Sweeney (see People of Shelburne on page 4) and SCS Guidance Counselor Vicki Wideman wanted to do something with the school's vegetables when school was not in session. They decided to donate the produce to community members and invited others to do the same.
If you are interested in donating vegetables, please contact Sweeney at sweeneyrs@gmail.com or 985-8190. If you or someone you know is interested in receiving vegetables please contact Wideman at vwideman@cssu.org or 425-7706.
