Allen Mullins, dressed in a Superman costume, has taken the plight of the nation's veterans to state capitols throughout the country. Thursday morning found him walking down Route 7 in Shelburne. According to Shelburne Police Chief Jim Warden, "We [the Police Department] received a phone call Thursday morning, saying that a man dressed in a Superman costume was walking down Route 7 near Harbor Road. So I headed out to meet with him- not sure I knew what to expect," Warden explained. "I said ‘good morning! What's your cause?'" Warden then proceeded to hear of Mullins travels on foot across the country.

Mullins, 27, of Dalton, Ga., has already traveled over 5,000 miles and is hoping to travel many more to raise awareness of veterans who return from war and are forgotten. He also wants to help start a non-profit organization to continue to build awareness of the situation.
He has a sleeping bag and a tent and he sleeps on the side of the road. He doesn't panhandle. He doesn't have nonprofit status, so he won't ask for donations. Mullins does not have anyone traveling with him, and depends on support from people he meets while travelling for his cause. Mullins explained to Warden that his goal was to visit three towns per day on his trek. "He was polite, and enthusiastic," Warden supplied.
