George Thorogood and The Destroyers on the Museum Green Sunday
The final concert in the Ben & Jerry's Concerts on the Green at Shelburne Museum series is this Sunday, Aug. 1, with headliner George Thorogood and The Destroyers. The band came out of Delaware in the 70s as a jarringly high-energy bunch. Its slide guitar, blues-rock takes on tunes by Chuck Berry, Elmore James, John Lee Hooker, Bo Diddley and others, which helped land them a contract with Cambridge's Rounder Records. They had moved to Boston and cut their teeth in the city's blues circuit before their second album for Rounder, "Move It On Over," struck big with the title track of a Hank Williams tune.
Gates open at 6 p.m. and show time is at 7 p.m. Tickets are available on site: $45 (plus applicable fees). Children 12 and under are free.
