Shelburne 11/12 All Stars win opener

First baseman William Hesslink hit a double during the Championship game to help advance Shelburne to the Vermont Little League tournament. Shelburne defeated St. Albans 8-3 in Game 1 at Schifilliti Park on Tuesday, July 27.

Shelburne defeated St. Albans 8-3 in the opening game of the 11 and 12-year-old state Little League tournament July 27 at Schifilliti Park in Burlington. Shelburne rallied in the fourth inning scoring six runs to erase a 3-2 deficit. Thomas Stevens hit a two-run single while Shea Ireland and Hugh Sheahan added RBI hits for Shelburne. Ryan Supple pitched over four innings of no hit ball and struck out nine to earn the win. Henry Conroy pitched in relief giving up three hits.

 

William Hesslink and Will Ryan made defensive plays to seal the win in the final inning.

 

Shelburne will play the winner of Game 2 between Barre and Bennington on Thursday, July 29 at 6 p.m. at Schifilliti Field. Follow the team on ShelburneBaseball.com, or better yet, come out to a game to witness what is truly an impressive and polished Little League team.
