Snowboarder Hannah Teter wins award for social change
Olympic snowboarding champion Hannah Teter of Belmont, Vt. won the VH1's "Do Something" award for improving the lives of poor children around the world through her own charity, Sweet Cheeks, and Children International.
The award is given to people 25 years and younger for their commitment to social change. Teter, who supports seven poor children through Children International, has pledged even more support for the humanitarian organization by contributing 40 percent of the proceeds from the sales of her panty line to feeding malnourished children through Children International's feeding program.
Sweet Cheeks pairs together the worlds of fun and fashion with charity and outreach. Buy a pair of Sweet Cheeks and a donation to the cause will be made with each purchase. In fact, at least 40 percent of all net proceeds from the sale of Sweet Cheeks go to charity partner Children International to help in its quest to feed and nourish children living in extreme poverty around the world.
Children International's President and CEO Jim Cook said, "Children International is grateful to Hannah Teter for her ongoing compassion for impoverished children around the world. Hannah is richly deserving of the VH1's recognition as a "Do Something" award recipient and we salute her for this achievement and her good work!"
Established in 1936, Children International is a humanitarian organization with its headquarters in Kansas City, Mo. Children International's programs benefit more than 335,000 children and their families in 11 countries around the world including Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Zambia, Honduras, India, the Philippines and the United States.
