Scott Prom
People of Shelburne

I caught up with Scott on his way to Bennington to return his daughter, Erin, a sophomore majoring in radiation technology to Southern Vermont College. While he drove, we discussed his real job, his hobbies, and other little known facts about his life, family, and more.
Scott and his family, wife LynnAnn, daughter, Erin, and son, Riley, moved to Shelburne in 1996 from Seattle, Wash., where Scott worked for Boeing, the world's leading aerospace company and the largest manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft combined. Currently a project engineer at General Dynamics in Burlington, Scott is also co-owner of Shelburne Vineyard with partners Ken and Gail Albert. He calls the winery his passion while LynnAnn claims it is "a hobby that has grown out of control." And she's not far off. Shelburne Vineyard has recently expanded to include another 14 acres of grape plantings in Charlotte.
Recently the family adopted a mixed breed, seven-month-old American mutt named Al. Unfortunately, Al has separation anxiety. In the six weeks he has lived with the Prom's, Al has managed to tear his way out of a plastic kennel and learned how to escape from a metal cage. "We should have named him Houdini," Scott joked.
Hobbies: biking, hiking, and camping
First concert: Scott attended a Robin Trower and Wishbone Ash concert during the late 70s in Milwaukee, Minn. Robin Trower is an English rock guitarist, who achieved success with Procul Harum, before he set out on his solo career. Scott has eclectic taste in music with Jazz being a particular favorite.
Favorite movie: "Never Cry Wolf," a 1983 American drama film adaptation of Farley Mowat's autobiography of the same name. The film is about a government researcher, sent to research the "menace" of wolves in the north, learns about the true beneficial and positive nature of the species.
Favorite Vermont spot: Traveling through the mountains and then south on scenic Route 100.
Bucket list: Scott's number one goal is to work with the Shelburne Vineyard team to develop a world class Maquette wine. His second goal is to travel with his family to Ireland.
