Bark for Our Park fundraiser at Shelburne Farms Oct. 24

Wed, Oct 13th 2010 02:00 pm

From 1-4 p.m., the historic Breeding Barn at Shelburne Farms will turn into a fur fest with dogs and humans alike coming together for an afternoon of fundraising for the Shelburne Village Dog Park.

The Bark for Our Park event will include Police and other K-9 demonstrations, face painting, dog related vendor booths, games, food and treats, a silent auction, a raffle and a  ‘My Dog's Got Talent' contest with prizes! Music will be provided by Loose Change. The silent auction will have donated items on the block, including a Lilly Pad Pet Bed, Stoweflake Spa Services, an overnight stay at Barn House Bed & Breakfast, artwork and jewelry from the Luxton-Jones Gallery, gift certificates from restaurants, veterinarians, and much more. Shelburne singer-songwriter, Dawna Hammers, has written a song especially for the Park that she will debut at the event. Admission to Bark for our Park is free but donations will be gratefully accepted. Shelburne Farms has generously donated the use of their Historic Breeding Barn for the event.

"Bark for Our Park" proceeds will be used to build the Shelburne Village Dog Park. Land has been made available for the park off Bay Road to the west of the Ti Haul Way and across the road from the Arbors. The two-plus acre area will be completely fenced. The plans include a washing station and other dog-friendly amenities.
