Cancer survivor and seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong greets Shelburne resident, Meredith Burak, at the 2nd Annual Mary Haas Ovarian Cancer Fundraiser & Awareness Dinner Wednesday evening, Oct. 13 at Sugarbush Resort. Armstrong was the keynote speaker at the fundraiser which brought in over $130,000 for early detection research for ovarian cancer, one of the deadliest forms of cancer. Meredith Burak's father, Michael Burak, looking on, earned the opportunity to attend a private reception with Armstrong for raising $1,424 in sponsorships during the Inaugural Ride to Break the Silence held Oct. 3.
