Kim DuBrul

Kim DuBrul was a Springfield High School track star and still holds the school's record for the high jump. She also was a cheerleader and part of a team that were Division I champs. Although her high jumps and cheers are of a different nature now, the will to leap over obstacles to succeed, as well as to cheer others on to win, remains integral to describing who she was and is today.
Kim is a native Vermonter, born and raised in Springfield. As a teenager, she wanted to go to New York to be a model, but her mother was less than comfortable with that thought. Kim is the eldest of three children. Her dad passed away four years ago, and her mother and youngest sibling, a sister Shannon, still live in Springfield. Her middle sibling, a brother, Johnny, moved to the neighboring small town of Baltimore (Vt.). After high school graduation, Kim conceded her dream of going to New York and went instead (without regret!) to Burlington's Champlain College where she studied fashion merchandising and design. She did an internship at Magram's, then a signature Church Street department store, and was later employed by the company where she "got to do every job there was to do." A colleague told her that she could make $30,000 a year selling real estate, a great leap above her then $6,000 a year salary in retail, and at 19 years old, she received her broker's license. She sold a whopping 20 houses in her first year.
Her real estate success eventually afforded her the opportunity to buy a Mercedes at the Automaster, where the salesman and her husband-to-be, John DuBrul, sold her a car and also later gave her the keys to his heart. The couple eloped and married on Lone Tree Hill at Shelburne Farms, the site of the couple's 5 a.m. morning walks. They had their wedding dinner at the inn and have celebrated their anniversary, 15 in all, every year thereafter.
The couple has two children, a 14-year-old daughter, Rowan, who is a freshman at Rice, and JoeJoe and 8-year-old third grader at Shelburne Community School. JoeJoe was born on Kim's birthday. They also have two dogs, Daryl, a Yorkie-poo and Carolina, a rescued lab-beagle mix from Golden Hugs dog rescue.
Kim continued working in real estate after her children were born, and also attended an intensive business coach and mentoring training. Inspired, she went to work for that company, and worked with more than 40 clients a week, in what she referred to as "coaching bootcamp." She continued to add other leadership and coaching techniques to her skill set, and opened her own thriving business called "Your Year of Transformation" three and half years ago.
