The South Burlington Rotary Club presented its annual Frederick Tuttle Award to Judy Kearns, owner and publisher of the Other Paper at its annual holiday party at the DoubleTree Hotel Burlington on Tuesday, Dec. 13. The Other Paper is a member of the Burlington Area Newspaper Group (BANG) that also includes Shelburne News and The Citizen.

Presented by Rotary president Stan Bradeen, the award honors community members who have done exemplary work in their vocations and enhanced the South Burlington community.

According to the Rotary Club, Kearns began at the Other Paper in 1999 after she was asked to help part-time with compiling a service directory. Her responsibilities grew into managing advertising for the paper full-time, and after publisher George Chamberlin retired in 2009, Kearns bought the paper and became publisher.

The Rotary Club also commented that Kearns was chosen because she "excelled in service to the readers, advertisers, and community of South Burlington and like Fred Tuttle, she exemplifies how a person's day-to-day work, their vocation, can enrich the community."
