Fix road to CVU

Wed, Feb 1st 2012 05:00 pm

One winter morning last year my high school daughter was traveling to CVU from Shelburne in a snowstorm, and at less than 25 miles an hour, she did a 360 and went off the road at a difficult curve to navigate and hit a road sign. Fortunately, she was not harmed. I could not help but fall to my knees last Friday to say my prayers for the families and teenagers affected by the tragedy of Zeke Kassel's heartbreaking death on that road, and worry about all drivers trying to navigate that dastardly drive in poor conditions. Please towns of Shelburne and Hinesburg, consider this a plea to amend the blind hilly curves and create broader shoulders so that parents do not have to hold their breath every morning when their children drive to school. There have now been too many life-threatening and life-taking accidents on this road by drivers of all ages. Let this be a civil petition to realign and broaden the blind, hilly, shoulderless curves, sand and monitor the road well, and make the drive relatively safer for all drivers, young and old.
